Nd:YAG Laser for Solar Lentigines (brown spots)
Solar lentigines are benign tan to brown spots of skin pigmentation that typically appear on the face, arms and hands. They are caused by sun exposure and become more prominent with age. While these so-called “liver spots” are harmless, patients are often bothered by their cosmetic appearance.
At Advanced Dermcare, we use a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser to selectively target microscopic pigment collections in your skin called melanosomes, resulting in fading or clearance of solar lentigines, often after a single treatment. Downtime is minimal, with some initial redness followed by a brown “healing sunburn” appearance that exfoliates within 1-2 weeks to reveal evenly toned, fresh skin.
